Tantrik Yoga

Tantrik Yoga is an ancient, holistic practice aimed at purifying the body and energy system to achieve spiritual awakening, merging physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation to activate chakras and unlock kundalini energy. It focuses on integrating consciousness and energy, often using longer-held poses to foster awareness.

Key Aspects of Tantrik Yoga:

Energy Channel Purification: Works on removing blocks in the energy channels (Nadis) and Chakras to boost vitality.

Techniques: Incorporates, in addition to asanas and pranayama, mudras (hand gestures), mantras (sacred sounds), yantras (symbols), and visualizations.

Focus on Awareness: Unlike many fitness-based yoga styles, Tantrik yoga emphasizes holding poses (often 2–10 minutes) for deep, relaxed awareness.

Traditional Roots: It is derived from broader Tantric traditions (Shaivism, Shaktism) that view the body as a sacred tool for enlightenment.

Common Misconceptions:

Traditional Tantrik yoga is not inherently sexual. While "red tantra" deals with energy in relationships, "white tantra" (which usually defines the yoga practice) is a solo, self-healing, and spiritual practice focusing on inner transformation.

Benefits:

Spiritual Growth: Awakening of Kundalini and connection with higher consciousness.

Physical/Emotional Healing: Increased energy levels, reduced stress, and emotional balance.

Mental Clarity: Enhanced concentration and mindfulness.

Common styles often associated with this approach include Agama Yoga and Hridaya Yoga.
